Pigtail fiber type and parameters

Fiber optic pigtails are short fiber cables with a pre-terminated connector on one end and an exposed fiber on the other, designed for fusion or mechanical splicing in optical networks.Fiber Types

Fiber pigtails are available in single-mode (OS2, G.652D, G.655, G.657A) and multimode (OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4, OM5) variants, supporting 50/125µm or 62.5/125µm core sizes for multimode and 9/125µm for single-mode applications .

Connector Options

Common connectors include LC, SC, ST, FC, LSH, E2000, MTP/MPO, and MTRJ. Both UPC (Ultra Physical Contact) and APC (Angled Physical Contact) polish types are available, with APC connectors typically green in color . Note that APC connectors are not available for ST, MTRJ, MU, or SMA types .

Cable Construction
  • Tight-buffered cable: Standard 900µm buffer for easy fusion splicing and mechanical protection .
  • Jacketed options: 2mm or 3mm jackets for LC, SC, ST, FC, SMA, and E2000 pigtails. Materials include LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), OFNP (Plenum-rated), and PVC .
  • Strength members: Aramid yarn is often used to reinforce the cable core .
Performance Specifications
  • Insertion loss: Typically
